The Powerpod and "The Renewable Energy Roadshow" are a unique collaborative network comprising Edinburgh Woodcraft Folk; School of Chemistry, Edinburgh University; and School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University. We can deliver a refreshing educational experience on the science and technology of renewable energies and climate change to audiences in Edinburgh and beyond.
The Powerpod is a purpose built mobile trailer fitted with
- solar panels
- photovoltaics
- wind turbine
These sources of green energy can be used to demonstrate the charging of mobile phones, i-pods and making milkshakes.
In addition to demonstrating the Powerpod itself our friendly staff can deliver:
- hands on workshops, including photovoltaics, model wind turbines, batteries, virtual 3D engineering design.
- interactive exhibits including fuels cells and a pedal generator
- discussion on topics of renewable energy and climate change
All presented in an educational and fun format.
We are available for both primary and secondary schools, science festivals, youth groups, community events and trade exhibitions. There is no charge for schools.
